Julie received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Mississippi, where she attended college on a baton twirling scholarship. She later earned her Master of Science in Teaching from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and worked as a speech and language therapist in the Hartford School District for two years before turning her focus to her first love - dance and baton twirling.

In 1982, Julie opened Julie’s Touch of Silver, bringing her years of training, competing, and performing in the areas of baton twirling, dance, gymnastics, and modeling. She studied classical ballet for many years under the direction of Nikolai Makaroff and also worked as a model for Rosemary Biscoff's and A&M Talent in print, commercial, and runway.

Under Julie’s leadership, the studio has built a celebrated tradition of excellence, earning numerous championships in solo baton twirling, dance, dance-twirl team, and corps competition. Her students have won local, state, regional, national, and world titles. The studio’s Senior Corps has proudly represented Team USA at the WNBTA World Championships in Holland (2006), Belgium (2009), Switzerland (2012), Italy (2015), and Norway (2018), and will return to the world stage to represent the USA once again in Italy in 2027.

Throughout her career, Julie has coached numerous individual champions, including five Miss Majorette of America titleholders. Her contributions to the sport have earned recognition of her own. She was named Corps Director of the Year at the 1999 NBTA National Championships at the University of Notre Dame and was inducted into the NBTA Twirling Hall of Fame in 2003. In 2006, the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce named Julie Oshkosh’s Most Amazing Mentor. She continues to share her knowledge and experience as a respected judge at competitions and pageants throughout the country.

Julie’s commitment to her students extends far beyond competition and awards. She and her staff continually expand their knowledge through classes, workshops, clinics, and seminars, staying current in all areas of dance and movement to provide students with the highest quality instruction possible.

For Julie, the studio has always been about more than developing talented dancers and twirlers. It is about creating a place where young people can grow in confidence, develop lasting friendships, discover what they are capable of, and build memories that stay with them long after they leave the studio.

Julie and her husband, Dave, have four children - Dane, Lacey, Damian, and Whittney - and seven grandchildren.
